Join author and tour guide Andréa Seiger for a walking tour along the scenic Potomac waterfront. The two-hour tour will illuminate the history of how the city of Washington D.C. developed around its most prominent landscape feature. Seiger will share stories of the C&O Canal, Roosevelt Island and the multiple bridges connecting D.C. and Virginia. We’ll also reference the built environment of the waterfront, dotted with iconic D.C. buildings like the Watergate Hotel and the Kennedy Center.

The walking tour will last for two hours and end with drinks and a tour of the current exhibition At the Water’s Edge: D.C. and the Potomac

About the Exhibition

Washington, D.C.’s history is intertwined with the Potomac River, which flows for hundreds of miles through Maryland, the District of Columbia and Virginia before emptying into the Chesapeake Bay. At the Water’s Edge: D.C. and the Potomac is an exhibition of historical maps, prints and documents that explores the complicated relationship between the capital city and the Potomac, including its “Eastern Branch,” the Anacostia.
