Binding the Clouds: The Art of Central Asian Ikat
March 10–July 9, 2018
Across Central Asia, oasis towns were once awash with the rainbow colors of ikat fabrics. Through exceptional artworks donated to the museum, this exhibition focused on the sophisticated art of dyeing known in this region as abrband (binding the clouds). Read the gallery guide for Binding the Clouds.
Support for the exhibition and related programs and events was generously provided by the Bruce P. and Olive W. Baganz Fund for The Textile Museum Exhibitions and Publications, the E. Rhodes and Leona B. Carpenter Foundation, Dr. Guido Goldman, Roger and Claire Pratt, and Whiting-Turner.
