Rug and Textile Appreciation Morning: Splendid Ikat From Your Collection 

Join us at the museum for a celebration of ikat from around the world. Collector David Paly introduces the program with a short talk and display of double-ikat textiles, followed by a show and tell of splendid ikat examples from your personal collections. A panel of experts offers commentary. Participants are encouraged to bring high-quality items, inspired by our exhibition Irresistible: The Global Patterns of Ikat. Space is limited, so we encourage you to sign up early.

About the Exhibition

Prized worldwide for producing vivid patterns and colors, the ancient resist-dyeing technique of ikat developed independently in communities across Asia, Africa and the Americas. Irresistible: The Global Patterns of Ikat explores the global phenomenon of ikat textiles through examples from countries as diverse as Chile, Indonesia and Uzbekistan. How to Participate

This program will take place in person at the museum. Space is limited, so please register online to reserve your spot. Please indicate in your registration the number and types of textiles you intend to bring. We request that you vacuum your textiles beforehand, even if they are clean, to help us keep the museum pest-free.
