Rug and Textile Appreciation Morning: Pageantry, Protection and Tradition in Equestrian Textiles
Join Adorning the Horse exhibition co-curators Sumru Belger Krody and Lee Talbot for an in-depth talk on textiles used to dress horses throughout history. From felts and flatweaves made by nomadic artisans to exquisite embroidered covers used in royal settings, the curators will offer insights into equestrian textiles from around the world and the ways they reflect the lifestyles, cultural traditions and beliefs of the people who rode these revered animals. Enriching the program, Judy Brick Freedman will discuss her journey in building this collection and donating 100 artworks to the museum to inspire this landmark exhibition.
This program is a partnership with The Textile Museum Associates of Southern California.
