The father of the blood bank was born and raised in Washington, D.C. Before his groundbreaking work in medicine, Charles R. Drew grew up in the Foggy Bottom neighborhood. Join Craig Miller, a practicing physician and co-author of Genius Unbroken: The Life and Legacy of Dr. Charles R. Drew (Georgetown University Press, 2025), to learn more about Drew’s time in Washington and beyond. This book was written in collaboration with Charlene Drew Jarvis, and is the first comprehensive biography on her father.

Please note: Because Dr. Miller is a practicing physician this program’s schedule is subject to change.
