In 2024 the National Capital Planning Commission celebrated 100 years of planning in Washington, D.C., and the region. Join NCPC’s Julia Koster as she reflects on the anniversary and history of the federal government’s central planning agency in the National Capital Region.  

About Julia Koster 
Julia Koster, AICP, is currently the National Capital Planning Commission’s Project Director, Flooding and Resiliency, and has held several senior positions at NCPC, including leading the agency’s centennial initiative. Prior to joining the agency, she was development coordinator for the Maryland governor’s Office of Smart Growth, and a senior land use and environmental planner in Washington State. Koster received a master’s in urban planning from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design.
