Member Program: Golden Threads: Muga Silk in North India

Museum members are invited to join Karthika Audinet online for an exploration of Muga silk, a rare type from North India that is prized for its lustrous golden color. Audinet will share her field research and offer a behind-the-scenes look at the production and use of this unique fiber.

About Karthika Audinet

Karthika Audinet is academic coordinator for the museum’s Costen Textiles Traces Center Study Center. She is a textile professor, designer and researcher with more than 25 years of international experience. Audinet holds two master’s degrees in textile design from the National Institute of Design in India and the l'École Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle in France, and has published papers in academic journals including Textiles Asia and The Textile Museum Journal.
