Image Use and Reproduction
Thousands of images from the museum collections are available free of charge for unrestricted use. Please fill out this form to request an image for your publication, presentation or project. Keep in mind that it may take us two weeks, sometimes longer, to process your request.
Not all objects in our collections have been photographed. We will review requests requiring new photography on a case-by-case basis, and photography fees may apply. New photography takes at least four weeks.
Some objects are protected under copyright, and you will need to obtain copyright clearance from the rights holder before we can provide an image. It is your responsibility to determine and satisfy copyright or other use restrictions before copying, transmitting or making other use of protected items beyond that allowed by "fair use." The United States Copyright Act provides that "fair use of a copyrighted work ... for purposes such as criticism, comment ... teaching, scholarship or research, is not an infringement of copyright."
If you have questions about photography rights and reproductions, please contact [email protected]. You can browse objects from the museum and university collections on our collections website.
