Curator, Albert H. Small Washingtoniana Collection

Kasey Sease, Ph.D., joined the museum as curator of the Albert H. Small Washingtoniana Collection in 2023. In this role, she also oversees the Albert H. Small Center for National Capital Area Studies. 

Dr. Sease activates the collection through programs, exhibitions, research visits, academic collaborations and other public history initiatives. Since coming to the museum, she has reimagined the Evolution D.C. blog, organized monthly D.C. Mondays programs on local history, and designed exhibitions, including A Tale of Two Houses (2024) and Capital Accommodations (2025).

Dr. Sease received master's and doctoral degrees in history from William and Mary, as well as a B.A. in history and government from the University of Virginia. A former managing editor of Washington History magazine, she has also held fellowships with the Smithsonian Institution Archives, National Museum of American History, and Omohundro Institute of Early American History and Culture.
