Karthika Audinet
Academic Coordinator, Cotsen Textile Traces Study Center
Karthika Audinet joined the museum in 2022 as academic coordinator for the Cotsen Textile Traces Study Center.
She initiates collaborations with professors at GW and other universities to develop object-based learning curricula; fosters student engagement through internships, part-time jobs, workshops and mentorship opportunities; and promotes public engagement through micro exhibitions and talks. She has also organized two major colloquia — [re]Think Silk (2024) and Global Equine Cultures (2025) — bringing together textile experts from diverse fields to explore the global history of textiles.
Audinet holds master’s degrees in textile design from the National Institute of Design in India and ENSCI–Les Ateliers in France. She began her international career designing high-end furnishings in India and France, later founding Coletta Collections in 2011, a Washington, D.C.-based social enterprise that promotes fine craftsmanship by adults with disabilities. Before joining the museum, she served as an adjunct professor at both GW and Montgomery College.
