How does one dig through the past without physically digging? Artist Peter Waddell paints scenes of American history, art historian Jackie Streker specializes in prints and printmaking, and ancient art historian Elise Friedland studies echoes of Greek and Roman art in Washington, D.C.  Though from different fields, all three scholars have interpreted L’Enfant’s plan for the capital city according to the practices of their own professions. Learn about their disparate research on this topic and their methods for unearthing the past.
