Celebration of Textiles: Colors of the Silk Road
Join us for our annual Celebration of Textiles family festival. This year we are featuring vibrant textile traditions from along the Silk Road through artist demonstrations, crafts and performances for all ages.
Activities
Travel through the museum to discover textile traditions and cultural displays provided by the embassies of China, Pakistan and Uzbekistan, and the American Turkish Association of D.C. Meet local artists demonstrating spinning, weaving, lace making and embroidery, and join in colorful dance performances from the Silk Road Dance Company. Outside, you can see silkworms at various stages of their development.
Dance Performances
The Silk Road Dance Company will perform dances from cultures along the historic Silk Road at 12 p.m., 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.

The award-winning, critically acclaimed Silk Road Dance Company presents an extensive repertoire of more than 200 dances from Central Asia, Iran, the Middle East, South Asia, the Caucasus and beyond. With the goal of promoting "Cultural Understanding Through Beauty and Delight," their pioneering performances offer a unique glimpse of the life and art of ancient cultures, especially the Islamic World.

This event is free; no registration required. Stop by the museum anytime between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to join the festivities.
