Honored in 2016 with the museum’s George Hewitt Myers Award, Yoshiko Iwamoto Wada is a globally celebrated artist, author, curator, historian, and educator with expertise in Japanese art and shibori technique. In this presentation, Wada will share insights into the creative impetus for Japanese textile and fashion designers whose spectacular, unconventional works have influenced artists around the world. In conjunction with the lecture, Wada will lead an intermediate-level, two-part Kimono, Origami, and Modules workshop on March 24-25.
