Workshop: Mending

Renate Maile-Moskowitz, international teacher and fiber expert

Clothing has never been cheaper, but the lost art of mending and altering garments is experiencing a revival. While most of us buy new shoes and clothing when we need to fill our wardrobes, small sewing and mending workrooms are beginning to thrive as concern about the environment fuels a growing make-and-mend mentality. Bring along a mending project of your own as Renate Maile-Moskowitz, international teacher and fiber expert, instructs you on how to mend clothes for yourself.

This program is inspired by the exhibition Scraps: Fashion, Textiles, and Creative Reuse. Fee: $35/museum members and GW students, faculty, and staff; $40/public. Advance registration is required; space is limited. Register online or call 202-994-7394.
