Lecture/Show-and-Tell: The Origins of Weaving

Wendel Swan, collector and museum trustee

Museum Trustee and collector Wendel Swan will examine how, where, and why weaving with animal fibers began and its importance—from the domestication of sheep through the Industrial Revolution and beyond. The audience is invited to bring in textiles that represent some of the oldest structures or techniques (the objects themselves need not be ancient).

Rug and Textile Appreciation Mornings bring together textile experts and enthusiasts for a thematic show and tell of personal pieces. Free; no reservations required.
