Film: "Planet Money Makes a T-Shirt"

National Public Radio’s “Planet Money” team wanted to see the hidden world behind clothes sold in this country, so they decided to make a t-shirt. They wanted to make an ordinary shirt like the vast majority of shirts sold—not organic cotton, not hand-sewn in the United States. This video and blog series chronicles the journey they took from cotton farm to finished product. Join us for a screening of their discoveries. (NPR, 2015, 5 episodes, 10 minutes total.)

This program is part of the museum's weekly Textiles at Twelve series, which explores the textile arts and global cultures through films, lectures, gallery talks, and more. Free; no reservations required.
