Film: "Craft in America: Origins"

Techniques in contemporary craft are frequently very similar to their historical counterparts. This film delves into the origins of American craft and the way ancient traditions inform the methods used by contemporary artists. Jim Bassler, featured in the exhibition The Box Project: Uncommon Threads, speaks in the film about origins that inform his practice. (PBS, 2015, 55 minutes.)

This program is part of the museum's weekly Textiles at Twelve series, which explores the textile arts and global cultures through films, lectures, gallery talks, and more. Free, no reservations required.
