Family Festival: Okinawa Lunar New Year

Celebrate the Lunar New Year island style. Join us on the closing weekend of the exhibition Bingata! Only in Okinawa for an all-ages festival that celebrates the traditions of the Ryukyu Kingdom. Enjoy traditional dance and karate demonstrations; create your own bingata pattern; and go fishing in the islands’ tropical reefs.

Presented in partnership with Okinawa Kai of Washington, D.C., and the Okinawa Prefectural Government. Free; no reservations required.

Saturday, January 28, 10 AM–5 PM

All-day activities: Origami, karuta card game, fishing game, photo station
Bingata workshops (all ages): 11 AM, 12 PM, 1 PM, 2 PM, 3 PM
