Two panoramic paintings of Washington, D.C., by renowned Washington artist Peter Waddell returns to the museum in the exhibition Best Laid Plans: Designs for a Capital City. The recently commissioned works, The Indispensable Plan and The Village Monumental, explore the evolution of Washington, D.C. One painting shows the grand city that planner Peter (Pierre) L’Enfant envisioned. The other captures the city's development by 1825, the year L’Enfant passed away.
