Lecture: Embroideries Galore

Daniel H. and Josiane Fruman, collectors

Josiane and Daniel Fruman started collecting textiles, via American patchworks, in the early 1970s. From 1976 on, they became particularly interested in liturgical embroideries dating back to the Middle Ages. In 2009 they donated a collection of nearly 250 items, comprising unique masterpieces, to the French government to be conserved and exhibited in the cloister of Le Puy-en-Velay cathedral, in the center of France. Their talk will focus on some of these masterpieces and acquisitions made during the last ten years. It will be profusely illustrated with photographic and iconographic material. Free; no reservations required.
