Lecture/Show-and-Tell: Empowering Weavers at the Center for Traditional Textiles of Cusco

Jannes Waples Gibson, board member, Andean Textile Arts

Jannes Waples Gibson, former education program specialist at The Textile Museum, presents a morning about the Centro de Textiles Tradicionales del Cusco (CTTC) in Cusco, Peru. CTTC was started in 1996 by Nilda Callañaupa, renowned Quechua weaver from Chincheros. Today, CTTC works with ten communities, and Gibson will share textiles she has collected in her many visits to these communities since 2003. The audience is also invited to bring their own textiles from CTTC.

Rug and Textile Appreciation Mornings bring together textile experts and enthusiasts for a thematic show and tell of personal pieces. Free; no reservations required.
