The Classical Tradition in Anatolian Carpets

The art of Turkish pile carpets represents one of the world’s oldest and richest carpet-weaving traditions. The Classical Tradition in Anatolian Carpets provided a unique opportunity to explore the artistry of this enduring tradition, which has been the subject of wonder and admiration in both the East and West for hundreds of years. The exhibition featured more than fifty Turkish carpets, dating from the fifteenth to nineteenth centuries, drawn from the collections of The Textile Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Jewish Museum and several private collectors. The exhibition was accompanied by a fully-illustrated color catalog.
