Lecture: Navigating Exclusion and Inclusion in Chocolate City

Izetta Mobley, PhD candidate, University of Maryland

Izetta Autumn Mobley will explore race, mobility, and community along the 14th Street corridor in Washington, D.C. Drawing on Metro Bus survey data and cultural theory, Mobley argues that social contact is not enough to stymie racial inequality, explores how D.C. residents discuss and conceptualize racial differences, and examines her findings in the broader context of how people take up space or connect with one another in the District.

This program is part of the D.C. Mondays at the Museum series inspired by the Albert H. Small Washingtoniana Collection. Free; no reservations required.
