Now celebrated as National Batik Day in Indonesia, October 1 marks the anniversary of the day UNESCO recognized Indonesian batik as a “Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.” On this day, Indonesian people (especially government officials, employees of state-owned enterprises, and students) are strongly encouraged to wear batik. With the help of this trunk show, you can too. One-of-a-kind silk batiks, indigo cotton batik scarves, and recycled batik accessories handmade in Indonesia by Agus and Nia Ismoyo will be available for sale. Museum members and North American Reciprocal Members enjoy an additional 10% discount on full-price merchandise.
